The U.K.’s National Health Service has ordered a more expansive screening for coronavirus vaccines as it attempts to make sure the country can continue to deploy the world’s most potent weapon.
The decision comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that the current testing strategy could lead to fewer effective vaccines.
The announcement comes as the U:s coronaviruses continue to spread around the world.
The agency also announced a new coronaviral testing strategy that would allow the agency to more quickly identify the most promising vaccines, with testing taking place across the country, instead of on the West Coast.
It’s part of the government’s ongoing efforts to protect the country from an increasingly deadly virus.
The new screening plan is designed to better understand the potential benefits of vaccines as they emerge in the next few years.
“There is an increasing recognition that vaccines are an important part of protecting the public from this deadly virus,” the government said in a statement.
“It is vital that the public have a more complete picture of the vaccines available in the future to ensure that the vaccines they receive will be of the highest quality.”
The new guidelines are not expected to change how coronavids are tested.
But the move to make coronavire safer is likely to affect coronavivirus testing more broadly.
