When it comes to the 2018 season, the New York Giants are in a pretty tough spot.
While they may have a strong lineup of rookies and veterans, it’s likely to be a tough stretch.
The Giants were set to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, and while that game could prove to be the game of the year, it could also be the season where the Giants are forced to go through a major change in their roster.
In addition to the team’s decision to go with a new quarterback in Carson Wentz, it is also expected that the team will be without starting left tackle Ereck Flowers for the first four games of the season.
This season, Giants coach Ben McAdoo said that the Giants will have a veteran quarterback in Eli Manning.
Manning has thrown for 3,854 yards, 22 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 106.4 passer rating this season.
He is the first Giants quarterback to throw for over 3,000 yards in his first four seasons.
Although the Giants have been struggling offensively, McAdauz believes that this will be the year that the offense starts to pick up steam.
“The biggest thing for us is, we are going to have to figure out how to win on defense, we’re going to need a lot of production from our offensive line,” McAdee said.
“So I think Eli will be one of the leaders, not only on offense, but he will also be a leader on defense.”
The biggest problem for McAdane, who is currently on the Giants’ coaching staff, is the quarterback position.
He has not had a great season, with a completion percentage of 33.5 and a QB rating of 77.3.
The Giants are expected to start a new starting quarterback in the coming weeks.
If the Giants don’t have a quarterback to take over after the start of the 2018 NFL season, it means that they will need to make a change in the offensive line.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Giants could use some help.
Defensive end Olivier Vernon could be the first player off the team for the 2018 preseason.
According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Vernon was a late addition to McAdao’s 53-man roster.
Vernon is considered the second best defensive end in the league and has played the most snaps of any Giants defensive end.
It’s not likely that Vernon will play a significant role in the team until at least Week 1.
Another player that could see some time in the starting lineup is defensive tackle Justin Pugh.
Pugh is the Giants top free agent signing this offseason and is expected to be part of a dominant defense in 2018.
Pugh was the third-highest paid defensive tackle in the NFL this offseason after the Giants signed free agent cornerback Stephon Gilmore and free agent defensive tackle Jameel McClain.
McAdoo has said that he wants to get more out of Pugh and hopes that he can help make the Giants even better.
At 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, Pugh should be able to rush the passer and provide some pass rush.
With Vernon out, the team could use a defensive tackle to help in the middle of the defense.
New York is also looking to add another pass rusher in the upcoming draft.
The team drafted defensive end Myles Garrett with the 12th overall pick and has already made a commitment to bringing him back for a second season.
The 6-2, 255-pounder could have an opportunity to play alongside Vernon.
In addition to Vernon, the roster could be altered with the departure of quarterback Kellen Moore.
The veteran was released last week and is currently the backup for the Green Bay Packers.
While Moore has a strong arm and has shown that he could be a reliable backup, the move could hurt the Giants offensive line and the unit that they have put together.
